Academic Experience

The DPT@USC curriculum is systems-based, meaning that students learn clinically important foundational sciences followed by the knowledge needed to care for patients with conditions that affect major body systems such as the musculoskeletal, cardiopulmonary, and neurologic systems.

Students are taught to approach each system from three important perspectives that form the basis of evidence-based practice: the patient, current research, and professional expertise.

Learning Outcomes

After graduation, students are able to:

  • Sit for the National Physical Therapy Exam for licensure to practice as a physical therapist.
  • Effectively care for individuals with an array of needs, from wellness and prevention to persons with complex or debilitating medical conditions.
  • Provide evidence-based and patient-centered care that integrates research, clinical expertise and the patient’s perspective.
  • Diagnose and treat movement dysfunction for persons of all ages and backgrounds.

Why Online?

The hybrid online/on-campus DPT@USC program provides aspiring practitioners across the nation the opportunity to earn their DPT from a top-ranked school of physical therapy, without having to relocate.

DPT@USC combines the accessibility of engaging online learning with in-person immersion experiences at USC and clinical experiences in students’ communities, which enables students to learn in an intimate and innovative atmosphere while staying close to their current communities.
